Yellowjackets Move to No. 2 for Scoring (Feb. 15, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings climbed
to No. 2 for scoring average in this week’s NCAA men’s basketball
statistical rankings. The Yellowjackets (15-6) are averaging 93.4
points per game after their current seven game winning streak.
Pfeiffer continues to lead Division II at 96.7 ppg. MSU Billings
plays at Hawaii Pacific Tuesday night and at BYU-Hawaii on
Thursday and Saturday.
The Jackets are ranked third nationally for
3-point shooting, averaging 11.4 made 3-point field goals per
game. Oakland City leads the nation at 12.4. MSU Billings is
also ranked thirteenth for free throw percentage at 75.9 percent.
After averaging 27 points a game last
week—earning PacWest player of the week honors—junior guard Cameron Munoz (Chino, CA) moved up to 33rd in the
nation for scoring average. He is averaging 19.5 ppg, second in
the PacWest. Munoz is also fourth nationally for 3-pointers per
game at 4.2 and sixth for free throw percentage at 88.6.
Munoz passed teammate Buddy Windy Boy (Jr., Lodge Grass, MT) in the national 3-point
rankings. Windy Boy slipped from fifth to eighth this week at 3.7
per game. He is also 32nd for 3-point percentage at
42.9 percent.
Sophomore Jonathan Wiley (Westlake Village, CA) is ranked 50th in the country this week for free throw percentage. He is third
in the conference at 83.8 percent.
The NCAA statistical rankings are released
each Tuesday and are valid through the games of the previous
Sunday. |
