Yellowjackets Move to Third on National Scoring List (Feb. 1, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – After averaging just over 109
points a game in the last two weeks, the Montana State-Billings
men have moved up to No. 3 for scoring in the NCAA Division II
basketball statistical rankings. The Yellowjackets (12-6) are
averaging 92.9 points per game for the season. Pfeiffer leads the
nation with a 98.6 ppg average.
The Yellowjackets are also fourth for 3-point
field goals made per game (11.0) and eleventh for free throw
percentage (76.2). MSU Billings has made 63 3-pointers in its
last five games, including 17 in a win over Western New Mexico
last week. Oakland City leads the nation at 12.7 threes per game.
The Jackets’ top two 3-point shooters rank in
the top five nationally for individual 3-point shooting. Buddy Windy Boy (Jr., Lodge Grass, MT) is ranked fourth in
Division II at 3.83 made 3-pointers per game. Cameron Munoz (Jr., Chino, CA) is close behind in fifth at
3.81 per game.
In other individual rankings this week, Windy
Boy is sixteenth for 3-point field goal percentage. He has made
45.1 percent of his 152 attempts this season. Munoz is third in
the nation for his 91.4 percent free throw percentage. Sophomore Jonathan Wiley (Westlake Village, CA) ranks 25th for free throw percentage at 86.2.
MSU Billings is idle this week. The
Yellowjackets return to PacWest Conference play on February 8
against Hawaii-Hilo. |
