Yellowjackets Hang in Top 10 for Scoring, 3-pointers (Jan. 13, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – Despite a tough four-game road
losing skid, the Montana State-Billings men’s basketball team
remained ranked in the top ten nationally for both scoring and
3-point shooting in this week’s NCAA statistical rankings.
The rankings are based on games through
January 9, when the Jackets were averaging 88.1 points and 10.1
3-pointers per game. Those averages rank them ninth for scoring
and sixth for made 3-pointers per game. The Yellowjackets are
also ranked 39th for free throw percentage, shooting
73.9 percent as a team.
Individually, Buddy Windy Boy is fifth nationally for 3-point field goals
per game. The junior guard from Lodge Grass is averaging 3.9 made
3-pointers per outing. Cameron Munoz, a junior guard from Chino, CA, is twelfth at
3.5 per game.
Windy Boy is also ranked 15th for
3-point field goal percentage, connecting on 49.0 percent of his
tries from beyond the arc. Munoz and sophomore Jonathan Wiley (Westlake Village, CA) are each ranked for free
throw percentage. Munoz is seventh at 90.0 percent while Wiley is
36th at 86.5 percent.
The Yellowjackets will play an alumni
exhibition game on Saturday starting at 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz
Gym. They return to PacWest Conference action on January 18 when
they host BYU-Hawaii. They also host Hawaii Pacific next week on
January 20 and 22. |
