Yellowjackets Add Basketball Standout from Arizona (Aug. 9, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT - Montana State
University-Billings head basketball coach Craig Carse announced
today that Justin Ashbaugh, a 6-foot-5 forward from Scottsdale,
Ariz., has signed a national letter of intent to play for the
Yellowjackets next season.
Ashbaugh was a two-time all-state selection
at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, earning second team honors
as a junior and first team honors as a senior. He led the
Sabercats to the Arizona 4A State Championship game twice,
capturing the state title as a senior. Saguaro HS advanced to the
state final four in each Ashbaugh’s final three seasons.
Ashbaugh averaged 18.5 points and 11.5
rebounds a game as a senior in leading Saguaro to the 4A crown.
Along with being named to the all-state team, he was selected to
the East Valley All-Tribune First Team and the All-Northeast
Valley First Team. He was also named the Scottsdale Views Player
of the Year, East Sky Region Player of the Year and Saguaro High
School’s Most Valuable Player. |
