Yellowjackets Come out Shooting in Blue-Gold Scrimmage (Nov. 13, 2004)

BILLINGS, MT – In their final preseason tune
up, the Montana State-Billings Yellowjackets knocked down 20
3-pointers in Saturday’s Blue-Gold scrimmage. The Gold team
prevailed 101-79 in the mixed squad scrimmage.
Junior guard Cameron Munoz (Chino, CA) was the high scorer for the night,
netting 23 points. Munoz, one of the top 3-point shooters in the
nation over the past two seasons, was 5-of-13 from behind the
arc. Backcourt mate Buddy Windy Boy (Jr., Lodge Grass, MT) finished the night with
20 points, connecting on 6-of-9 from 3-point range.
Senior Justin Hassell (Brooklyn, NY) also dropped in 20 points,
hitting 7-of-9 from the line. Hassell missed last season with a
back injury, but looked strong in 30 minutes of action Saturday.
Freshman Lucas Walker (Launceston, Australia) was the most productive
newcomer in the scrimmage. The 6-foot-7 forward scored 21 points
on 10-of-18 shooting from the field. He also grabbed 8 rebounds.
Nine players scored in double figures in the
game. In addition to Munoz, Windy Boy, Hassell, and Walker, Kerington Youmans (So., Atlanta, GA) finished with 15 points
and six assists; Jonathan Wiley (So., Westlake Village, CA) added 12 points; Wacy
Weeks (Jr., Wolf Point, MT) netted 13 points, including three
3-pointers; Drew
Arnold (Fr., Tempe, AZ) notched 15 points; and Braden Draggoo dropped in 17.
The Yellowjackets open the 2004-2005 regular
season on November 20 when they host Minot State. Tip off is
scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gym.
