Yellowjacket Golf Teams to Hold Tryouts (July 21, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT - Montana State
University-Billings head golf coach Roger Burckley
has announced that he will hold open tryouts for the
Yellowjacket men’s and women’s golf teams shortly
after the beginning of the fall semester.
Burckley has scheduled a
36-hole tryout, with 18-hole rounds on September 9
and 10 at The Briarwood, the Yellowjackets’ home
course. Since the tryout dates are the same week
that classes begin at MSU Billings, interested
players should contact Burckley as soon as possible
to reserve a place in the tryout as well as to
discuss NCAA eligibility issues. Burckley can be
reached at 657-2397 or 245-8691.
The Yellowjacket men
tentatively have ten tournaments scheduled for
2004-2005, with half of them scheduled for the fall
season. The Lady Yellowjackets tentatively have
nine tournaments on the schedule, with four set for
the fall. The first fall event for both teams is
scheduled for September 27 and 28. The NCAA golf
season is a split season with the championship
played in the spring.
The 2004-2005 season is the
first in which golf will be a championship sport in
the Pacific West Conference. The conference
championships are scheduled for April 18 and 19 and
will be hosted by the University of Hawaii-Hilo.
