Yellowjacket Golf Teams Host Rocky (Mar. 31, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings
and Rocky Mountain College will square off in the second
portion of the Rimrock Auto Collegiate Cup on April 4 and
5. The first half of the match play competition was
played in the fall at Peter Yegen, Rocky’s home course.
The Jackets host the second two rounds at their home
course at The Briarwood on Monday and Tuesday.
Monday’s pairings will be a
“foursomes” alternate shot format. Two-player teams will
square off with each player hitting every other shot. The
team with the lower score wins the hole. If the teams
tie, the hole is halved. Each player on each two-person
team has to hit nine tee shots. The men tee off starting
at 1:00 p.m. followed by the women at 1:18.
Tuesday will feature singles
match-play matches with seven men and five women from each
school competing. The men start at 1:00 and the women
begin at 1:42.
Rocky leads the men’s competition
after taking a 9-to-7 lead in the fall. There are 29
points possible and it takes 15 points to win the Cup.
The Bears have already locked up the women’s competition
after taking an 11-to-1 lead in the fall. There are 21
possible points for the women with 11 needed to win.
