Softball Splits Wins in Colorado (Sept. 26, 2004)
FORT COLLINS, CO – The Montana State
University-Billings softball team won 8-3 against
University of Northern Colorado Sunday, and dropped their
second game of the day to Colorado State University 6-0.
The Lady Jackets played four games total this weekend in
Colorado, going 3-1 overall.
The Yellowjackets played a double
header Sunday. The first game ended with an 8-3 win
against Northern Colorado. Christy Wankel (So., OF, Great
Falls, MT) hit a two run home run in the second inning
putting the Lady Jackets in the lead 2-0. Theresa
Campbell (Jr., C/OF, Great Falls, MT) hit a pair of
home runs, the first coming in the fifth that brought in
three runners. Her second home run came in the top of the
seventh that also brought in three runs.
Stephanie Cochrun (Jr. P, Lake Stevens, WA) pitched five
innings, striking out four batters. Joey Ehnes (Jr., P,
Great Falls, MT) finished pitching the game in innings six
and seven, striking out one. Cochrun and Ehnes had a
combined seven hitter on the day.
The Lady Jackets played the 2004
Division I Mountain West Conference champions for their
second game on Sunday, losing 6-0 to
CSU. The game went
five innings and ended in a game time limit. CSU earned
runs in each of the innings with two coming in the
second. CSU had nine hits to the Lady Jackets' four.
Theresa Campbell went one for two for
the game with a
double. Joey Ehnes pitched four of the five innings,
striking out five. Megan McCrae (Jr., P, Brandon,
Manitoba) pitched the final inning of the game for the
Yellowjackets. |
