Yellowjacket Cheer Camp Readies for Record Enrollment (Aug. 2, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State
University-Billings 2004 Cheerfest Summer Camp will again hit a
new record for enrollment, solidifying its place as the state’s
largest cheer camp. The main camp is scheduled for August 18-20
on the campus of MSU Billings.
Head coach Dani Ruoff expanded the Cheerfest
format this year to accommodate nearly 20 more teams than in
2003. For the past several weeks, the Cheerfest staff has
traveled the state operating satellite camps because the camp
enrollment was too high to host entirely on campus. Ruoff expects
nearly 40 schools and 450 participants to take part in the 2004
Yellowjacket Cheerfest. Add to that about another 50 cheer
coaches and the Yellowjacket Cheer Team will instruct roughly 500
people this summer.
The on-campus camp will be held on the grassy
common area between McMullen Hall and Cisel Hall on the
MSU Billings campus. Camp participants will again perform at
Montana Fair on August 20 at 2:00 p.m. in Budweiser Stadium.
Cheerleaders and coaches can chose between a
variety of camp options. The full three-day camp costs $160 per
camper. Campers can also chose a two-day option for $130. Both
options include meals. Campers wishing to be housed in the
MSU Billings dorms will be charged $14 per night.
Private sessions will also be offered on
August 21. For $20 per person, individuals or teams will receive
a two-hour session with one-on-one instruction. |
