MSUB Baseball Adds Catcher (June 9, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings
baseball coach Chris Brown announced Thursday that Kyle Slater has
signed a national letter of intent to play for the Yellowjackets
next season. Slater, a native of Missoula, Mont., played two
seasons at Miles Community College.
A 2001 graduate of Missoula Big Sky High
School, Slater played at MCC in 2002 and 2003. He batted .372 for
his career with the Pioneers with a .508 on base percentage. One
of the top hitters in the program’s career record book, Slater
also drove in 46 RBI. He batted over .400 as a sophomore and
earned Mon-Dak all-conference honors.
“We are excited to have Kyle choose
MSU Billings and the Yellowjacket Baseball Program,” said Brown.
“He is a solid catcher defensively and can really swing it at the
plate. He is a mature young man that will provide leadership and
experience. We expect a lot out of our catchers, and Kyle has
proven that he can live up to those demands. He exudes baseball
and is a hard-nosed player that works hard and hustles all the
time. I know he will be a great addition to our team.” |
