Jacket Baseball Signs Pair of Transfers (May
19, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings
baseball coach Chris Brown announced this week that Luke Sansaver
of Wolf Point, Mont., and Tanner Swanby of Helena, Mont., have
signed national letters of intent to play for the Yellowjackets
next year. Both players played two seasons at Miles Community
College.
Sansaver is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound infielder
who graduated in 2002 from Wolf Point High School. He batted over
.300 for his career at Miles CC. At Wolf Point HS, Sansaver
lettered four years in basketball, earning all-conference and
all-state honors as a senior. He played Legion baseball for the
Wolf Point Yellow Jackets.
“The addition of Luke to this year’s
recruiting class gives us a very athletic player that has the
ability to play second, shortstop, or third base,” said Brown.
“He is a guy that has the ability to make the spectacular play.
In addition to being outstanding defensively, Luke is a guy that
will bat in the top half of the order. His is also a solid
student that will make positive contributions on and off the
field.”
Swanby is a 6-1, 190-pound infielder and
pitcher who graduated in 2002 from Helena High School. He was a
two-time all-conference selection at Miles CC and was named to the
all-region team as a freshman. Swanby was the 2001 State Legion
Tournament MVP and helped the Helena Senators to three straight
Legion state titles. He also lettered three years in football at
Helena High.
“Tanner has the unique ability to impact the
game on offense, defense, and on the mound,” said Brown. “He has
won at every level he has played and is a fierce competitor that
can play just about any position. Tanner will be in our pitching
rotation as a weekend starter and will also play in the field. We
expect him to be a major impact player. He knows how to win and
settles for nothing less.” |
