Pitcher Signs with Yellowjacket Baseball (June
17, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings
baseball coach Chris Brown announced Friday that Nate Herbig has
signed a national letter of intent to play for the Yellowjackets.
Herbig is a junior college transfer from Miles Community College,
where he earned National Junior College All-America honors. He
will have two years of eligibility at MSU Billings.
“The addition of Nate is very exciting,” said
Brown. “It’s not very often you get to sign an All-American. He
has the ability to dominate a game on the mound. He is a proven
winner with the heart of a champion, and he will always keep you
in the game and give you a chance to win. Nate is also a great
person that is a leader on and off the field. He will be an
immediate impact player that really solidifies our pitching
rotation.”
A native of Noxon, Mont., the 6-foot
185-pound right handed pitcher played two seasons at Miles CC. He
was 9-2 as a freshman for the Pioneers, earning first team
all-conference, first team all-region, first team all-district,
and third team All-America recognition. As a sophomore Herbig
posted a 9-4 mark, again earning first team all-conference and
first team all-region honors.
A 2003 graduate of Noxon High School, Herbig
lettered three years in basketball and played for the Libby
Loggers Legion baseball team. As a senior he was 13-0 for the
Loggers, leading them to a second place finish at the state
tournament. |
