Swogger, Lynnes Finish 1-2 to Lead Lady Jackets to
Victory at Yellowjacket Invitational (October 26, 2002)

BILLINGS, MT – Ellen Swogger ran a season-best 18:52 to lead MSU Billings to victory at the Godfather’s Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday morning.  Teammate Chelsea Lynnes came in second place to give the Lady Yellowjackets a 26-29 victory over Dickinson State University.

Swogger finished under 19:00 in the 5K race for the first time this season as the Yellowjackets closed out the regular season.  Lynnes was close behind in 19:19 to help anchor MSUB.  Rounding out the top five placers for the Yellowjackets were Anjel Hoff (5^th-20:09), Kelly Long (8^th-21:21), and Colleen Anderson (10^th-21:44).

Dickinson State was paced by Kristin Wickens who placed third in 19:51.  Chioko Nakasone finished in 19:52 for DSU to take home fourth.

The Blue Hawks won the men’s team race with 15 points.  MSUB didn’t qualify with a score with only three runners.

The Yellowjackets’ Brian Fosjord claimed individual honors in the men’s 8K race in a time of 28:03.  Ben McNelley placed 9^th (29:43) and Ryan Archibald came in 11^th (30:13).

In the Godfather’s Pizza/MSU Billings Cross-Country Classic held before the college race, Karen Gall won the women’s overall 5K race in 18:29.  Gall recently qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials.  Charlie Brockie won the men’s overall 5K race in 19:21.
