MSU Billings Women Place Ninth at Northern Colorado Meet (October
12, 2002)
GREELEY, CO – Ellen Swogger,
a sophomore from Miles City, led the MSU Billings
women’s cross country team for
the second straight week, placing 30th at the Dan
Libera Memorial Cross-Country Meet at the University
of Northern Colorado. The Lady Jackets
finished ninth in the team race.
In a very
fast field, Swogger finished the 5K course in 19:30,
her fastest time this season for a 5K course.
Chelsea Lynnes, also a sophomore from Miles City,
finished in 37th place in a time of 19:54. The
two former Cowgirls have been the Yellowjackets' top
two runners all season.
Adams State, the number one
ranked Division II cross country program in the
country, took the team title by taking places one,
two, three, five and six. Amber Klein was the
individual champion, setting the meet record with a
17:17.
Also placing
for the Yellowjackets were Anjel Hoff (43rd; 20:02), Kelly Long (52nd; 20:14), Tracie Overberg (84th; 21:52), Mandy Brown (94th; 22:49), Colleen Knudson (97th; 23:00), Kendra Bebee (99th; 23:07), and Abbie Strutz (102nd; 24:59).
The
Yellowjackets men's team had two runners place at
the meet. Brian Fosjord finished in 56th place with a time of 28:09 over
the 8K course. Ryan Archibald came in 68th place with a time of 29:45.
The
Yellowjackets will travel to Spearfish, SD next
weekend to compete in the Black Hills State
Invitational on October 18. The Yellowjacket
Invitational is scheduled for October 26 at
Riverfront Park in Billings. |
