MSU Billings Women’s Cross-Country Places Second at
S.D. Tech Invitational
RAPID CITY, SD – The Montana
State University-Billings women’s cross-country team
used top-five finishes from Chelsea Lynnes and Ellen
Swogger to take home second place at the South
Dakota Tech Invitational on Saturday. The
Yellowjackets finished with 65 points, edging the
University of Mary’s 68 for second place. Black
Hills State finished first with 20 points.
Lynnes, a sophomore from Miles
City, finished fourth in the 5K race with a time of
20:47. Swogger, also a sophomore from Miles City,
was just five seconds behind Lynnes, taking the
fifth spot. Rounding out the top five for the
Yellowjackets were Anjel Hoff (15th place, 21:37), Kelly Long (18th place,
21:55) and Tracie Overberg (29th place,
22:57). Also competing for MSU Billings were Kendra
Bebee (23:59) Colleen Knudson (24:14), Mandy Brown
(24:20), and Abbie Strutz (25:07).
The Yellowjackets men’s team
didn’t qualify for a team score. The top finisher
for MSUB was Josh Jones, whose 29:08 time in the 8K
race was good for 16th place. Ben
McNelley finished 37th in 31:43, Brian
Fosjord finished 39th in 31:48, and Ryan
Archibald finished 45th in 33:13.
The Yellowjackets’ next meet
will be the Montana State University-Bozeman
Invitational on September 21.
