Lady
Jackets Sign California Soccer Standout (March 12, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – MSU Billings
women’s soccer coach Don Trentham announced that
Ally Taylor from Ojai, California has signed a
national letter of intent to play for the
Yellowjackets next season. Taylor will graduate
from Ojai’s Nordhoff High School in June.
A four-year letter winner in
soccer at Nordhoff HS, Taylor led her team to the
Frontier League Championship in each of her first
three seasons. The team is currently seeking its
fourth straight league title. As a freshman in
1999-2000, Taylor earned first team all-conference
honors as a midfielder. As a sophomore, she was
named the Frontier League Offensive Player of the
Year after being named first team all-conference at
midfielder for the second year.
Last year as a junior, Taylor
was a team captain and was chosen as the Frontier
League Most Valuable Player after leading her school
to its third straight conference title. As a
second-year team captain this season, she is chasing
her fourth conference title and her second league
MVP award. Taylor has earned numerous academic
awards for her 3.50 GPA, including the Scholar
Athlete Award in each of her three years.
“I am looking for Ally to step
right into the starting lineup as either an
attacking midfielder or forward next season,” said
Trentham. “Her speed and skill will definitely add
a new dimension to our attack next season.”
“I chose MSUB because I was
impressed with Coach Trentham and the soccer program
he hopes to achieve,” said Taylor, who plans to
major in education at MSU Billings. “During my
official visit, I felt like I was a part of the
team. Plus, pursuing a teaching degree is one of my
goals and MSU Billings has a great education
program.” |
