Yellowjacket Soccer Assistant Receives AFLAC Award (May 14, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – MSU Billings
women’s soccer assistant coach Jennifer Lawler has
been selected as one of the 500 high school and
college coaches to receive an AFLAC National
Assistant Coach of the Year Award. The winners, men
and women involved in virtually every major team
sport, hail from all 50 states and the District of
Columbia.
Lawler was a first-year
assistant with the Yellowjacket women’s soccer
program and also assisted in the athletics marketing
and development office. While working for
Yellowjacket Athletics, Lawler was also finishing
her master’s degree from East Stroudsburg
University.
The AFLAC National Assistant
Coach of the Year Awards were selected based on
nominations made by head coaches, athletic
administrators, past and current student athletes,
fans, and board members. Each winner and each
respective school will receive a plaque from AFLAC.
Billings AFLAC representative Daran Wyckoff is
scheduled to present Lawler with her plaque at the
Lady Jackets’ September 6 home game.
“AFLAC is pleased to sponsor
the AFLCAC National Assistant Coach of the Year
program,” said Joe Kuechenmeister, AFLAC senior vice
president. “Assistant coaches are the unsung heroes
of American sport. So many of us were positively
affected by our participation in sports that we
wanted to pay tribute to these hard-working,
under-recognized coaches who do so much to improve
the young people they work with. As a result, they
make a major impact in the communities they serve as
well.” |
