Lady Jackets Win Second Straight Soccer Match
BILLINGS – The MSU Billings
Lady Yellowjackets finished the Rocky Mountain
College tournament at 2-0 after defeating the
University of Lethbridge 2-1 on Sunday.
The Yellowjackets jumped to a
1-0 lead midway through the first half when
Stephanie Clark, a sophomore midfielder, scored an
unassisted goal off a free kick. Lethbridge tied
the game at 1-1 before halftime.
Candy Cherry, a sophomore
defender, scored the game-winning goal in the second
half when she netted her first goal of the season.
MSU Billings was able to hold on to the 2-1 lead
despite being out-shot 14-5 in the game. Freshman
goalkeeper Lacy Humbracht collected five saves to
earn the win.
Since games against Canadian
schools do not count toward NCAA statistics or
records, the Yellowjackets remain at 1-2 on the
season after defeating Wayne State on Saturday.
They next face Utah Valley State College and the
University of Northern Colorado on September 14 and
15. Both contests will be played at Greeley,
Colorado. |
