Lady
Yellowjackets Add Three More Soccer Recruits (April 1, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – The MSU Billings
women’s soccer team has added three more players to
what is turning into one of the program’s largest
recruiting classes. The Lady Jackets have now added
eight players to the squad after receiving nation
letters of intent from Kelsey Vinnedge (Great Falls,
Mont.), Amber Olson (Kennewick, Wash.) and Stacie
Dix (Grand Junction, Colo.).
Vinnedge, a 5-foot-5
midfielder, will graduate from C.M. Russell High
School in Great Falls this spring. She lettered two
years for the Rustlers at midfielder, earning team
MVP honors in 2002. She was also named to the Class
AA All-State first team.
“Kelsey is our lone Montana
recruit this year,” said MSUB head coach Don
Trentham. “She is technically very sound and
distributes the ball very well. She will be
competing for time in the center of the midfield and
possibly at forward next season.”
Olson is transferring from
Walla Walla Community College in Washington where
she lettered for the past two seasons. The 5-7
midfielder played at Kamiakin High School in
Kennewick where she helped her team to district and
league championships as well as a state runner-up
finish. She earned all-conference honors in 2000.
“Amber will provide us with two
years of college experience,” said Trentham, “and I
expect her to compete for a starting spot as an
outside back or an outside midfielder. She has
tremendous speed, a great work ethic and a desire to
continually compete.”
Dix is currently playing her
senior season at Grand Junction High School, which
is attempting to win its second consecutive district
title. A 5-7 defender, she will finish as a
two-year letter winner after helping her team to the
2002 district championship.
Said Trentham, “Stacie is a
solid defender who will help strengthen our
defense. Her strength and size as well as her
vision and understanding of the game will help her
challenge for a starting position in the backfield.” |
