Jacket Golf Team Sees First Action of the Season (March 25, 2003)
GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The
MSU Billings women’s golf team competed in its first
event of the season, placing fifth in the five-team
Maverick Invitational at Bookcliff Country Club.
Elizabeth Marshall shot a pair of 97s to lead the
Yellowjackets in the two-day event.
Nebraska-Kearney’s Kelly
Benjamin won the individual title, carding a 75 and
a 77 for a two-day total of 152 on the 5,879 yard
par-72 course. Northern Colorado captured top team
honors with a team score of 645. Grand Canyon was
just one stroke off the lead with a 646.
The Yellowjacket golf program
started in the fall semester and is competing in its
first official championship season this spring.
Also playing at this week’s events for the Lady
Jackets were Nicole Clayton, Krystal Broesder,
Jennifer Briggs and Whitney Taylor.
