Yellowjackets Fall for the Second Time in Puerto
Rico (February 16, 2003)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings women’s basketball team finished its
three-game Puerto Rico trip by losing to Puerto
Rico-Bayamon 74-65. It was the second time in three
days that the Yellowjackets fell to the Cowgirls.
MSUB finished the trip with a 1-2 record after
defeating Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Saturday. The
Jackets are now 16-6 overall.
The Cowgirls led 35-30 at
halftime after connecting on 12-of-17 free throws in
the first half. MSU Billings outscored the Cowgirls
61-53 from the field in the game, but the Jackets
found themselves in early foul trouble. UPRB
connected on 21-of-32 overall free throw attempts.
MSU Billings made 4-of-6.
Natalie Visger’s double-double led the
Yellowjackets. She scored 15 points and grabbed 12
rebounds. Joan Langford made four three-pointers and
finished with a team-high 16 points. Robyn Milne added eight points and ten
rebounds. Jessie Henigman pulled down eight rebounds and
blocked four shots. She now has 245 career blocked
shots, moving her to No. 19 on the NCAA II career
leaders list.
Yahimily Cabrera scored 30
points for UPRB. Cabrera finished with a
triple-double, adding 10 assists and 11 steals. In
the two games against the Jackets, Cabrera tallied
51 points, 22 assists, 20 steals and 12 rebounds.
Yoliana Cabrera hit five three-pointers Sunday and
scored 20 points.
The Yellowjackets will play
their final home stand this weekend when they host
Western New Mexico on Saturday and Sunday. The game
on the 22nd tips-off at 7:00 p.m. at
Alterowitz Gymnasium. Sunday’s game starts at 4:00
p.m. |
