Lady Yellowjackets Win for Second Night at Western
Oregon (December 28, 2002)
MONMOUTH, OR – The MSU Billings
Lady Yellowjackets never trailed Saturday night as
they won their second game in as many nights, 62-53,
over the Western Oregon Wolves. Natalie Visger led all scorers with 16 and also pulled down eight
rebounds and handed out four assists as MSUB
improved to 10-2 overall and 9-1 against West Region
opponents.
Despite shooting just two free
throws in the entire game, the Yellowjackets were
able to maintain they lead throughout the game.
They built a 33-29 halftime lead by shooting
54-percent from the field. MSUB also shot over
50-percent in Friday’s game against the Wolves, a
76-53 Yellowjacket win.
The Lady Jackets increased
their lead to as much as 16 in the second half and
held off the Wolves for the nine-point win. Senior Joan Langford also notched double-digit points with 13. She made
three of the Yellowjackets’ five 3-pointers. Jessica Bachmann added eight points and four assists. Jessie Henigman and Robyn Milne each blocked two shots and combined for 10 rebounds.
MSU Billings will face Seattle
University on January 2 in a Tournament at Laie,
Hawaii. The Yellowjackets will take on
Alaska-Fairbanks on the second day of the tournament
on January 3. MSUB will return home to host Carroll
College on January 10. |
