Hawaii Pacific Downs MSU Billings in Three Games (November 11, 2002)
BILLINGS, MT – Hawaii Pacific University used 24
kills from Susy Garbelotti to roll past the MSU Billings Yellowjackets
Monday night, 30-24, 30-28, 30-21. The win improved the Sea Warriors,
ranked No. 7 in the Pacific Region, to 13-8 and 6-3 in the PacWest. MSU Billings
falls to 9-17, 3-7 in the PacWest.
Garbelotti had a hitting percentage of .360 to lead
the Sea Warriors to an overall hitting percentage of .273. Sandra Brunke,
Briana Marinas, and Teisa Fotu also posted double-digit kills. Setter
Vera Oliveira finished with a match-high 52 assists.
MSU Billings was paced by Olivia Munro’s 10 kills and eight
digs. Libero Mandi Paulson added a match-high
19 digs for the Yellowjackets. MSUB posted a .218 hitting percentage, but
managed only 119 total attempts compared to 139 for HPU.
The same two teams will meet on Tuesday night in a
non-conference match. Game-time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz
Gymnasium. It will be senior night for the Yellowjackets, who will honor
graduating seniors Krissy Janney, Mandi Paulson, and Onika Van Zanten after the match.
It will also be an important match for Hawaii Pacific, which is fighting
for an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. |
