MSU Billings Turns Out Lights
(September 5, 2002)
BILLINGS – The Montana State
University-Billings Yellowjackets wasted little time
dispatching the MSU-Northern Lights on Thursday
night. The Jackets won in three games, 30-21,
30-19, 30-19.
The lights were never able to
solve the Yellowjackets’ serve as MSUB racked up an
amazing 17 service aces. Kari Gerretsen accounted
for five aces, while Olivia Munro notched four.
Munro was the point of the
Yellojackets’ attack, knocking down 16 kills with an
impressive .520 hitting percentage. Freshman Ashley
Jones tallied eight kills on only 14 total
attempts. Senior setter Krissy Janney was credited
with 36 of the Jackets’ 41 assists on the night.
MSU Billings improved to 2-3 on
the season and will look to go above .500 when they
play four matches this weekend at the Rocky Mountain
College tournament on Friday and Saturday.
MSU-Northern enters Thursday’s
contest at 3-5. The Lights’ offense runs through
two Billings natives. Junior outside hitter Tanja
Bruski leads the team with 81 kills and has a .218
hitting percentage, while sophomore setter Hannah
Nutting has been credited with 325 of the Lights’
340 assists. |
