MSU Billings Wins One, Drops One at Rocky

BILLINGS – The MSU Billings
volleyball team finished the four-match Rocky
Mountain volleyball tournament at 2-2 after losing
to Carroll College and defeating Montana Tech on
Saturday.
In Saturday’s 10:00 a.m. game,
Carroll outpaced the Yellowjackets 30-25, 27-30,
32-30, 30-27. The Saints’ Lena Mortensen led all
players with 21 kills. Mary Lester added 19 and
Krista Heavirland had 12.
MSU Billings was led by Olivia
Munro and Katrina Dahlgren, who both notched 12
kills. Kari Gerretsen and Mandi Paulson also
recorded double-figure kills with 10. Senior setter
Krissy Janney tallied 45 assists.
In the 4:00 p.m. match, MSU Billings
swept the Orediggers from Montana Tech, 30-28,
31-29, 30-28. Dahlgren led all players with 15
kills, followed by Paulson’s 11, Gerretsen’s nine,
and Ashley Jones’s seven. Janney dished 41 assists
in the three games.
Carroll got 14 kills from
Janalee Stokken and 10 kills from Collette
Phillips. Angela Bausch added nine kills while
Becky Hancock had 25 assists.
MSU Billings moves to 4-5 on
the season and begin Pacific West Conference play
next week when they travel to Hawaii for four
matches. They will start the road swing at No. 7
ranked BYU-Hawaii on September 13 and finish at
Hawaii-Hilo on September 17. |
