Yellowjackets Host Hawaii-Hilo in Weekend Series (November 7, 2002)
BILLINGS, MT – The MSU Billings volleyball team will
host Pacific West Conference opponent University of Hawaii-Hilo Friday and
Saturday nights. Game time on Friday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at
Alterowitz Gymnasium. Saturday’s match will begin at 6:00 p.m.
The Yellowjackets enter the final four matches of the
season with an overall record of 8-15 after splitting matches at Western
New Mexico last weekend. MSUB will be looking to improve on its 2-6
conference mark when the Jackets host the Vulcans, who enter the week with
a 15-7 overall record and a 3-5 PacWest mark. In their first meeting this
year, MSU Billings defeated Hawaii-Hilo 3-2 on September 17.
MSU Billings is led by Olivia Munro’s 3.59 kills per
game. Munro ranks seventh in the conference in kills. She also ranks
eighth in service aces (0.39 per game) and fourth for digs (3.68 per
game). Middle blocker Katrina Dahlgren is fourth in the
PacWest for blocks at 1.03 per game.
The Vulcans feature the PacWest’s top blocker in
Cheriesse Shiroma, who is ranked No. 3 in the nation at 1.42 blocks per
game. UHH’s top hitter, Sara Pilgreen, is eighth in the conference with a
kills-per-game average of 3.51.
After the two-match set against Hawaii-Hilo, MSU Billings
will conclude the 2002 season on November 11 and 12 with home matches
against Hawaii Pacific. |
