Yellowjackets to Host No. 4 BYU-Hawaii (October 14, 2002)
BILLINGS, MT – After an idle week, the MSU Billings
volleyball team will return to play against one of the best teams in the
country. BYU-Hawaii, ranked No. 4 in the AVCA poll last week, will visit
Billings for matches on Friday and Saturday. The
Seasiders are also ranked No. 1 in the Pacific Region poll.
The Yellowjackets are 6-10 overall and 2-3 in the
PacWest Conference. They have won their last two conference matches,
defeating Hawaii-Hilo and Western New Mexico. The
Jackets are led by sophomore outside hitter Olivia Munro’s 3.93 kills per
game, which rank sixth in the conference.
Middle blocker Katrina Dahlgren is third in the
conference for hitting percentage at .319. Senior Mandi Paulson is third in the
conference for digs at 3.61 per game, with Munro right behind her at 3.38.
The Seasiders are coming off a week where they took
two matches from No. 24 Hawaii Pacific. BYU-Hawaii is led by one of the
nation’s best middle blockers, Chun Yi Lin. Chun Yi leads the conference
and the nation in hitting percentage at .487.
Friday’s match will be a Pacific West Conference
counter beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gymnasium. The same two team
will square off in a non-conference match on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. |
