Yellowjackets to Face Chaminade, Western New Mexico for Fifth at Tennis Championships (April 11, 2003)

BILLINGS, MT – Hawaii Pacific survived another marathon match with Hawaii-Hilo Friday afternoon at Montana State-Billings to advance to the Pacific West Conference championship match.  The Sea Warriors will face defending PacWest champion BYU-Hawaii at 3:00 p.m. at MSU Billings.  The Seasiders dispatched MSU Billings 5-0 to advance to the championship round.  In earlier action, Chaminade defeated Western New Mexico 5-2 to advance to the consolation match against Hawaii-Hilo.  Western New Mexico and MSU Billings will play for 5^th and 6^th. 

Hawaii Pacific, the defending PacWest Conference men’s tennis champion, will face BYU-Hawaii, the defending men’s tennis national champion Saturday at noon in a rematch of last year’s PacWest title tilt.  The Sea Warriors advanced to the title match with a 6-0 win over Hawaii-Hilo while the Seasiders shutout MSU Billings 7-0 to advance.  HPU defeated BYU-Hawaii 5-1 in last year’s championship match before BYU-Hawaii went on to win the national title.  Hawaii-Hilo and Western New Mexico will play for 3^rd and 4^th after the #6 Mustangs upended #5 Chaminade 5-4.  MSU Billings will face Chaminade for 5^th and 6^th.
