Lady
Yellowjackets Sweep Pair at Dickinson State (April 21, 2003)
DICKINSON, ND – The
MSU Billings softball team notched a pair of 4-1
victories Monday afternoon at Dickinson State
University. The Yellowjackets’ Megan McCrae and
Joey Ehnes each struck out five to pick up the
wins. MSUB improved to 12-15 overall.
McCrae scattered seven hits
over seven innings in the first game to earn her
sixth win of the season. She is now 6-9 in 15
starts. Christy Wankel’s three-run homer in the top
of the second was the difference, and the Jackets
added an insurance run in the third. Wankel was
1-for-3 in the game with three RBI and a run
scored. Catcher Layne Pavey was 2-for-3.
Joey Ehnes tossed a four-hitter
in the second game to improve her season record to
6-3. Senior Megan O’Donnell’s two-RBI single in the
top of the first capped a five-hit, three-run inning
as the Jackets jumped ahead to stay. The Blue Hawks
(6-14) scored in the bottom of the first but
couldn’t plate another run against Ehnes. Catcher
Theresa Campbell was a perfect 3-for-3 in the game
with an RBI double. Michelle Falsken and O’Donnell
each went 2-for-3 at the plate.
The Yellowjackets will return
to Cenex Stadium this weekend for their home
finale. MSUB will host PacWest foe Hawaii-Hilo on
Friday and Saturday in double-headers beginning at
3:00 p.m.
