Yellowjackets Drop Men’s Soccer Game at Seattle Pacific (October 7, 2002)
SEATTLE, WA – The MSU Billings men’s soccer
team held its own against Seattle Pacific Univeristy (7-3-1) for
65 minutes on Monday night, but gave up two goals within 30
seconds en route to a 3-0 loss.
The Yellowjackets (4-8) were out-shot 7-0 in
the first half, but only trailed 1-0 at the break. Goalkeeper Kevin Petriz was scored upon in the 37th minute when
SPU’s Jeremy Yerkes was awarded a penalty kick. Petriz saved the
other three shots he faced in the half.
Petriz also saved three second-half shots,
but the Falcons had too many scoring opportunities between the 58th and 65th minutes. SPU finally made good, scoring at
65:01 and 65:29 to put the game away.
Mark Cipolla managed the Yellowjackets lone
shot of the game as they were out-shot 14-1. MSU Billings will
travel to Nampa, Idaho on October 12 and 13 to face Northwest
Nazarene and Humboldt State. |
