Yellowjackets Climb to No. 16 in National Poll (December 17, 2002)
BILLINGS, MT – The MSU Billings
men’s basketball team climbed to No. 16 this week in
the NABC/Division II Bulletin Top 25 poll. The
Yellowjackets, who are off to a 5-0 start, were
ranked No. 22 in the preseason poll. This week’s
poll is the first released since the preseason.
MSU Billings has won three West
Region games en route to its 5-0 record. The began
the season with a win over defending West Region
Champion Cal State-San Bernardino and have followed
with two wins over St. Martin’s, one over Minot
State, and one over Chadron State.
The top-ranked team in the
country this week also comes from the West Region.
Humboldt State holds the top spot with a 5-0 mark.
Other teams in the Top 25 from the West Region are
Cal State-Bakersfield (13th), and
Alaska-Fairbanks (7-0).
MSU Billings will host the
University of Charleston on December 19 before
taking its first long road trip of the season. From
December 28 to January 8, the Yellowjackets will
play at Cal State-Los Angeles, Cal Poly Pomona,
Chaminade (HI) and Hawaii-Hilo. |
