MSUB Women’s Soccer
Announces 2008 Schedule
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings head
women’s soccer coach, Don Trentham, announced the 2008 women’s
soccer schedule Monday.
The slate features a school-record 12 home games that are
scheduled to be played at the newly renovated MSUB Soccer Field
at the College of Technology campus.
The schedule also features four games against postseason
teams from last season.
“Our 2008 schedule has an impressive list of
quality opponents,” Trentham said.
“We have assembled a preconference schedule against many
top notch opponents, which I ultimately hope will help prepare
us for the difficult challenge of playing in the GNAC.”
The Yellowjackets, who were 9-10-1 overall in
2007 and 5-8-1 in their first season in the Great Northwest
Athletic Conference (GNAC), open the 2008 campaign at home with
the sixth annual MSU Billings Cup, Aug. 28-31.
The Yellowjackets, along with 2007 NCAA Tournament
participant Fort Lewis, Eastern New Mexico and Dixie State, all
will be competing in the tournament.
MSUB opens the season with Dixie State August 28.
MSUB kicks-off September on the road at
Augustana (S.D.) where it will play Adams State and Augustana,
Sept. 6-7. The
Yellowjackets then begin a string of six consecutive home games,
beginning with back-to-back postseason participants from a year
ago. University of
Mary comes to Billings Sept. 13 as the Marauders were a 2007
NCAA Tournament participant and Carroll College (Sept. 19) was a
NAIA Tournament team in 2007 as well.
The Jackets open the GNAC slate with four
home games to round out the homestand, beginning Sept. 24
against Central Washington.
MSUB also plays Seattle Pacific (Sept. 27), who won the
GNAC in 2007 and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.
MSUB faces Saint Martin’s (Oct. 2) and Western Oregon,
Oct. 4 to conclude the homestand.
After trips to Western Washington and Central
Washington (Oct. 9-11), the Jackets return home Parent’s Weekend
and the seventh annual Rimrock Cup (Oct. 16-19).
The Yellowjackets host Northwest Nazarene (Oct. 16) and
face Rocky Mountain College in the Rimrock Cup, Oct. 18.
MSUB has a 9-6-1 record in the series with Rocky Mountain
and have won the past four meetings in the annual series for the
Rimrock Cup.
The season closes with four of the final five
games away from home, beginning at Western Oregon, Oct. 23 and
Saint Martin’s Oct. 25.
MSUB hosts its final home game Oct. 31 against Western
Washington, before closing the season at Northwest Nazarene and
Seattle Pacific, Nov. 6-8.
