Jacket Men Set to Host Bulldogs
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State
Billings men’s basketball team will play host to NAIA opponent
University of Montana-Western on December 31st. Tip off is 7
p.m. at Alterowitz Gym. The Jackets are hoping that the New
Year’s Eve contest will earn them a win as the young team
remains winless at 0-10.
The Bulldogs have won their last five
countable games straight to stand at 6-7 overall.
Montana-Western has played four exhibition games, three of which
were against Division I opponents Boise State, Utah State, and
Weber State. The Bulldogs also played one game against Great
Northwest Athletic Conference team Northwest Nazarene
University.
Layne Glaus leads the Bulldogs offensive
charge averaging 13.2 points per game. Glaus is shooting a
steady 45 percent from the floor and has connected on 68-of-88
free throw attempts for 77 percent. Teammate Aaron Sims is
netting 12.1 points per game and leads the Bulldogs pulling down
8.4 boards per game. Sims is a 58 percent efficiency shooter
from the field and is averaging a team-leading 0.77 blocks and
1.54 steals per game. Drilling 41 three-pointers, nearly half
the team’s total, Chad Myers has been scorching from behind the
arc for the Bulldogs. Myers is tallying 12.1 points per game.
The Bulldogs are shooting 44 percent from
the floor and have drained 98-of-289 three-point attempts for 34
percent. While outshooting their opponents from the line,
Montana-Western is a cool 68 percent connecting on just
199-of-293. The Bulldogs hold a narrow 36-35 rebound advantage
over their opponents.
Freshman standout
Aaron
Terry (Moreno Valley, Calif.) leads the Jackets’ offense
averaging 15.6 points per game on 46 percent shooting from the
field. Terry is pulling down 4.7 boards per game and is handing
out a team-leading 2.5 assists per game.
John
Brooks (Perris, Calif.) is shooting 35 percent from the
floor and has drained a team-leading 22 three-pointers for 34
percent.
Cameron Khoury (Alta Loma, Calif.) has chipped in 7.3 points
per game and has tallied a team-leading 5.5 boards and 0.60
blocks per game for the Yellowjackets.
The Jackets are making steady improvements
from game-to-game and is apparent on the stats sheet. The team
is shooting 37 percent from the floor and has come alive from
the perimeter knocking down 94-of-298 for 32 percent. The
Jackets continue to be out-rebounded by their opponents 46-34.
Following Monday’s game, the Yellowjackets
dive straight into the conference schedule as they play host to
Seattle University (6-1) on Saturday, January 5th. Game time is
slated for 7 p.m. at Alterowitz Gymnasium. As with all
