Three-Point Barrage by Alaska Fairbanks Sinks Yellowjackets

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – A season-high 19
three-pointers by Alaska Fairbanks helped hand Montana State
Billings a 109-69 loss Saturday evening at the Patty Center.
With the loss, the Yellowjackets fall to 1-25 overall and
1-14 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. UAF improves to
5-18 and 2-12 in conference play.
MSUB had three players in double figures led
by 19 points on 7 of 19 from the field by freshman John Brooks.
He also was 4 of 4 from the line.
Freshman Kirk Blaine had 17 points and sophomore Troy
Ruff chipped in 14. The Jackets shot 40 percent for the game on
23 of 58 from the field and were 8 of 36 from beyond the arc.
UAF had five players in double figures led by
17 points from Keven Campbell.
He was 6 of 8 from the field and a game-high 5 of 7 from
downtown. The team
shot 59 percent for the game on 41 of 69 from the floor along
with 19 of 31 from beyond the arc for 61 percent.
UAF outrebounded MSUB
41-25 for the game.
The Nanooks, who lost to the Yellowjackets in
Billings earlier in the year, came out on fire, shooting 63
percent for the first half on 20 of 32 from the field.
UAF also was 9 of 14 from beyond the arc in the first
half alone en route to a 56-30 lead.
MSUB shot 32 percent from the field in the
first half on 9 of 28 from the floor and 4 of 19 from beyond the
arc.
The Yellowjackets
return home to face Central Washington Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in
Alterowitz Gym.
