OMAHA, Neb.- The Montana State Billings men’s basketball team dropped its fifth straight game falling 113-56 to the University of Nebraska-Omaha Saturday night. The Mavericks remain perfect on the season at 4-0, while the Yellowjackets are 0-5
The Mavericks commanded the game wire to wire and took a 63-28 lead into the locker room at half time before extending their lead to 57 in the final 20-minutes to seal the win.
The Yellowjackets’ Aaron Terry (Moreno Valley, Calif.) accounted for nearly half of MSUB’s points matching his career-high of 21 points scored in Friday’s game against St. Cloud State. Terry posted his first double-double of his collegiate career in grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds. Brett Taylor (Billings) added a career-high 12 points all coming from three-point range. Taylor’s teammate John Brooks (Perris, Calif.) netted 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.
As a team the Jackets were 19-of-69 from the floor for 28 percent and were just 6-of-35 from long range for 17 percent. MSUB was out-rebounded 57-34 in the game.
The Mavericks were led by Mitch Albers game-high 26 points. Albers was a very efficient 10-of-13 from the floor and was 6-of-7 from long range. Tyler Albers and Denny Johnston each chipped in 16 points for UNO.
The Mavs were 42-of-77 from the floor and 17-of-36 from the perimeter for 47 percent setting a new school record for three-pointers made in a single game. UNO connected on 12-19 from the free throw line for 63 percent.
The Yellowjackets head to Nampa, Idaho November 30 and December 1 for a pair of neutral games against Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian. The Jackets open the season at home December 17 when they host cross-town rival Rocky Mountain College.
