Anderson Inks with MSUB Men’s Basketball for 2008
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings men’s basketball team added its second recruit to the 2008 recruiting class as Richard (Lance) Anderson signed with the Yellowjackets as announced by Director of Athletics, Dr. Gary Gray, Wednesday.
“I am very pleased Lance has decided to transfer to MSUB and become a Yellowjacket,” Gray said. “He will bring great experience to our basketball program. Lance comes to us from an excellent junior college program, and he will fit in well with our current roster and our campus.”
Anderson, a native of Menlo, Wash., has spent the last two years at Grays Harbor Community College in Aberdeen, Wash., and helped the Chokers to an 18-12 record this past season. He prepped at Willapa Valley High School, where he averaged 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks a game his senior year. There, he participated in basketball, football and track earning numerous accolades.
An all-league selection in basketball his junior year and a first team all-league selection his senior year as well as participating in the WIBCA All-State game as well during his senior campaign highlighted his accomplishments. Willapa Valley was district champions his sophomore and junior years, as well as a second-place finish in the state tournament as a junior.
In addition to high school basketball, Anderson played for the Emerald City League AAU team as well.
Anderson joins Ryan Meehan of Beaverton, Ore., as the first two student-athletes to sign with the Yellowjackets for the 2008-09 season.
