Scott Named Co-Great Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Week
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings junior pitcher Steve Scott was named Great Northwest Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. He and Nick Bolthouse of Saint Martin’s share the honor.
Scott, a native of Billings, went 2-0 in Arizona this past week, including striking out a school-record 15 in a complete game, 4-3 come-from-behind victory over University of Mary on Friday. His 15 strikeouts also tied the Great Northwest Athletic Conference record. In that game, he allowed five hits, three runs – two earned, one walk and 15 strikeouts.
Along with his 15 strikeouts against Mary, he had 20 for the week in 11 and two thirds innings pitched. Scott allowed nine hits, seven runs – five earned and eight walks for a 3.86 ERA. He picked up his first win of the season in an 8-4 victory over Saint Cloud State on Monday, going four and two thirds allowing four hits, four runs – three earned, seven walks and five strikeouts.
In the game against Mary, Scott went the distance, allowing five hits, three runs – two earned, one walk and 15 strikeouts.
The Yellowjackets begin conference play this weekend at Saint Martin’s and will have their home-opener, Mar. 25 against Colorado Christian, beginning at noon at Pirtz Field.
