Yellowjacket XC Opens Season at South Dakota
RAPID CITY,
SD – Sophomore Cierra Dornfeld (Woodbury, MN) led the
Yellowjacket women in the first cross-country meet
of the season. Dornfeld placed tenth, finishing the
5k course in 22:10. The Yellowjacket women
(1:53:44) finished second at the meet, falling to
Black Hills State University (1:42:15).
Placing 13th with a
time of 22:22 was senior Tiffany Piplica (Riverton, WY), followed by a 17th place finish of 23:08 by Erin Mueller (Billings, MT). Kym Island (Columbia Falls, MT) finished with a
time of 23:45, placing 19th. The winner
of the women’s race was Liz Woodruff of Black Hills
State with a time of 20:09.
Leading the way for the
Yellowjacket men were Jarred Rensvold (Wolf Point, MT) and Matt Roseberry (Chinook, MT). Rensvold finished
the 8k course 14th with a time of 29:29.
Roseberry followed in 15th, with a time
of 29:31. Rounding out the Yellowjackets’ scoring
places were Joe Kragt (Worden, MT) in 26th place
with 30:31 and Andy Zoeller (Billings, MT) in 29th place with 32:23. Taking home the fastest time for
the men was James Hansen of Black Hills State with a
time 27:01. The men’s team did not have enough
runners on this opening weekend to score as a team.
