LAREDO, TX – The Montana
State-Billings men’s soccer team stumbled against Texas A&M –
International Friday in Laredo, Texas falling 4-1. The
Yellowjackets are 1-5-2 while the Dustdevils won their third
straight game improving to an even 3-3.
The Dustdevils got on the
scoreboard in the 14th minute on a pass from Karl
McGettrick that found Ryan Harrison in position for the shot.
Just four and a half minutes later McGettrick found the net
himself on a loose ball that hooked into the right side of the
net past Jackets’ keeper
Sander Tollefson (Missoula, MT). The Dustdevils would score
a third goal before the half would conclude.
Texas A&M – International
struck at the 61:06 mark of the second half, scoring their
fourth goal of the game. The Jackets wouldn’t be denied as
freshman
Sam
Charles (Chiswell, England) scored on a penalty-kick with
under 17 minutes to play. Charles is now 2-for-2 on penalty
kicks this season.
As a team the Jackets were
out-shot 11-3 with Charles,
Chris Cornish (Surrey, England), and
Jarred Weisen (Great Falls, MT) each posting shots on goal.
Tollefson recorded four saves with back-up keeper Erik Andrews
(Kalispell, MT) playing the final 9:36 of the game.
The Yellowjackets remain in
Texas with games scheduled against University of Texas – Permian
Basin on September 24 and a neutral game against College of the
Southwest on September 26. Following the three-game road trip,
the Jackets defend their home field on September 30 against
Colorado Christian University. |
