Lady Jacket Golfers Finish Two Rounds in WA (10/10/05)

BELLINGHAM, WA – After playing 36 holes at the Western Washington Invitational on Monday, the Montana State-Billings women’s golf team is in ninth place in the nine team tournament.  The 54-hole tourney concludes Tuesday at the par-73 Bellingham Golf and Country Club.

The Yellowjackets were led by Halley Montalban (So., Billings, MT) who sits in a tie for 32^nd place.  Montalban carded rounds of 89 and 87 for a two-round total of 176 (+30).  Emily Maag (So., Billings, MT) had the team’s best round of the day with an 85 in the opening round.  Maag shot 94 on the second 18 to finish with a 179 (+33), placing her in 37^th.  The Yellowjackets were rounded out by Amanda Rabenberg (Sr., Livingston, MT) in 44^th with a 189, Nicole Salsbery (So., Malta, MT) in 45^th with a 191, and Jessica Boyer (Fr., Billings, MT) in 48^th with a 211.

Host Western Washington holds a commanding lead in the team race with a two-round total of 614 (+30).  The Vikings’ nearest challenger is Western New Mexico with a 646 (+62).  Western’s Katja Trygg and Catherine Kim hold the top two individual spots.  Trygg was the only player to shoot under par with a 1-under 145.
