Jacket Golfers Open Spring Season (2/23/06)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings men’s and women’s golf teams both head to
Texas February 25-28 to open their season in tournament
play. Although this is a new conference for the
Yellowjackets, many of the teams that the Jackets have
competed against in previous years tournaments will be
in attendance
The women’s team will compete in
the Rattler Classic hosted by St. Mary’s (TX) February
25 and 26. The Lady Jackets will play the 36-hole
tournament at The Golf Club of Texas, a premier golf
course located at the foothills of San Antonio. This
will be the first conference event of the year for the
ladies team. Halley Montalban (So., Billings, MT), Emily
Maag (So., Billings, MT), Nicole Salsbery (So., Malta, MT), Jessica Boyer (Fr., Billings, MT), and Karrie
Brack (So., Livingston, MT) will be the women
golfers representing MSU Billings.
St. Edward’s will host the Spring
Invitational at the Golf Club at Circle C in Austin
Texas February 27-28. The Yellowjacket men’s golf team
will compete in the 54-hole invitational along with
fourteen other teams including, St. Edward’s, Western
New Mexico, Oklahoma Panhandle, St. Mary’s, Dallas
Baptist, West Texas A&M, Texas A&M Commerce,
Southwestern Oklahoma State, Northeastern State, East
Central, Abilene Christian, Cameron, and Incarnate Word.
Following the tournaments in Texas,
both the men’s and women’s golf teams will return to
Billings to play the annual Billings Collegiate Cup
head-to-head against cross-town rival Rocky Mountain
College. The Cup will be played at The Briarwood, the
Yellowjackets home course March 16 and 17. |
