Lady Jackets Fifth at Maverick Classic (10/17/05)
GRAND JUNCTION, CO – A pair of first
round 87s put the Montana State-Billings women’s golf team
in fifth place after the first round at the Maverick
Quality Inn Classic hosted my Mesa State on Monday. The
Yellowjackets’ Halley Montalban and Emily Maag are tied
for seventeenth place after each carded a 16-over par 87.
The Yellowjackets sit in fifth place
at 78-over as a team after posting a 362. Grand Canyon
leads the team race with a 34-over 318. Grand Canyon’s
Jessica McKay holds a two-stroke lead for top individual
honors after shooting a 3-over 74. The tournament
concludes Tuesday at the par-71 Tiara Rado Golf Course.
Montalban (So., Billings, MT) used a
40 on the back nine to charge into the top 20 after
posting a 47 on the front. Maag (So., Billings, MT) shot
41 on the back after carding a 46 on the front. Amanda
Rabenberg (Sr., Livingston, MT) is in 26th with a 20-over
91.
