Langford in NCAA’s Top 10 (1/24/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings women’s
basketball players Michelle Lieber and Jenny Langford are each ranked in the national top 10 by the
NCAA for field goal percentage and 3-point shooting respectively.
The statistical rankings included games through January 22.
Lieber, a junior from Gillette, WY, ranks
third in the nation for field goal percentage. She is shooting
66.9 percent for the season and over 70 percent during the Lady
Jackets’ current 11-game winning streak. Lieber also ranks 26th
nationally for rebounds per game at 9.6.
Langford, a senior from Reedpoint, MT, ranks
ninth in the country for 3-point field goal percentage at 45.5.
The third most prolific 3-point shooter in school history,
Langford is also currently 21st in NCAA Division II for 3-point
field goals per game at 2.7.
As a team MSU Billings ranks third among NCAA
Division II schools for 3-pointers made and eleventh for 3-point
percentage. The Jackets are averaging 8.5 made threes and are
shooting 38.3 percent from behind the arc. MSU Billings also
ranks 36th for rebound margin (6.4), 38th for field goal
percentage (36.5), 40th for scoring (73.3), and 45th for scoring
margin (11.1).
The Lady Yellowjackets, 12-4 overall and 5-1
in the Heartland Conference, next play on Saturday, January 28
when they host St. Edward’s University at 6:00 p.m. at Alterowitz
Gym. St. Ed’s plays at Lincoln on Wednesday. A Hilltoppers win
on Wednesday would set up a battle for first place between
MSU Billings and St. Edward’s on Saturday. |
