DALLAS, TX – The Montana State-Billings
volleyball team had little trouble winning its first Heartland
Conference road match Friday, defeating Dallas Baptist 30-27,
30-7, 30-27. The win improved the Yellowjackets to 14-4 overall
on the season and 3-2 in the Heartland Conference.
The Jackets out-hit the Patriots .272 to .055
in the match. Much of the difference came in the second game,
which MSU Billings dominated. The Yellowjackets had 12 kills
without an error for a .444 team attack percentage in that game
while forcing the Patriots into 12 errors to go with their five
kills (-.189).
Middle blocker Alicia
Cazemier (So., Vauxhall, Alberta) led all players with a dozen
kills on a .476 attack percentage. She also had a match-high
three blocks. Ali Watson (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) added 11 kills and five digs. Jessica
Lechner (Fr., Huntley, MT) had an efficient match with nine
kills on a .533 attack percentage. Jessica
Bratton (Jr., Casper, WY) finished with seven kills.
Defensively, Nicole
Kruse (So., Huntley, MT) led all players with 17 digs. Alexis
Sandru (Jr., Twin Bridges, MT) finished with 13 digs. Setter Natalie
Bills (Jr., Provo, UT) handed out 35 assists to go with nine
digs. Freshman Taylor
Faught (Billings, MT) had eight digs.
Dallas Baptist (5-16, 0-3) was led by 10
kills from Lauren Ashlock. Jenna Pry added nine kills and nine
digs.
The same teams meet again Saturday afternoon
at 2:00 p.m. After wrapping up in Dallas Saturday, the
Yellowjackets will continue their first conference road trip with
a pair of matches at Oklahoma Panhandle State next Monday and
Tuesday. |
