Lady Jackets’ Quarnburg Honored by Heartland (4/20/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings
softball player Rachel Quarnburg was named the Heartland
Conference player of the week for her performance in a
weekend series sweep of St. Edward’s University last
week. Quarnburg is the first Lady Yellowjacket to earn
player of the week honors this season.
Quarnburg, a junior first baseman/designated hitter
from Billings, Mont., continued her hot hitting after
returning from a back injury that sidelined her for 14
games. In a four-game sweep of former league leader St.
Edward’s, Quarnburg batted .636 with three runs, two
doubles, two home runs, and five RBI. In 13 plate
appearances over the weekend (she also had two walks),
Quarnburg was 7-for-11 with a .692 on base percentage and
a 1.364 slugging percentage. For the season she is
batting .385 with eight home runs, six doubles, 26 RBI,
and a .727 slugging percentage.
The Yellowjackets will wrap up their
2006 home schedule on Friday and Saturday when they host
Lincoln University. The Jackets and Blue Tigers will play
doubleheaders starting at 3:00 on Friday and at noon on
Saturday. Following the weekend series against Lincoln,
MSU Billings will next play at the Heartland Conference
Championship Tournament on April 27-29 in San Antonio,
Tex. |
