Yellowjacket Soccer Announces First Two Signings (5/10/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings men’s soccer coach Dan McNally announced this
week that two international players have signed to play for the
Yellowjackets next season. Sam Charles of Dorset, England, and
Tom Milroy of Aberdeen, Scotland, will join the Yellowjackets as
freshmen this fall.
Charles is a 6-foot-3 forward
who attended Budmouth Technology College. He played club soccer
for Portland FC, scoring 11 goals in 18 games last year. He
also helped his team to the 2003 Dorset County Cup.
“Sam will be a great addition
to the men’s soccer program,” said McNally. “He has the
potential to be an excellent forward at this level. He combines
solid technique with outstanding athleticism. Sam’s strength
and finishing ability will bring a new dimension to our
attacking play next season.”
Milroy is a 6-foot-0
midfielder who attended Cults Academy. He was the captain of
the Aberdeen Secondary Schools Senior Select last season. He
was also selected to the Aberdeen Schools Select the previous
three seasons.
“Tom is an all-round quality
player,” said McNally. “He has the ability to play numerous
positions on the field to a high level. He combines the
strength of a central defender with the technique of a forward.”
McNally said he expects to
sign a number of players in the coming weeks. The Yellowjackets
open their season August 24 at Colorado State-Pueblo. |
