Yellowjacket Soccer Coach Named to Hall of Fame (4/6/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State
University-Billings head men’s soccer coach Dan
McNally became one of the first two inductees into the
Embry-Riddle Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame last weekend. McNally,
who is completing his first season at the helm of the
Yellowjacket soccer program, graduated from Embry-Riddle in
1999.
McNally and former teammate Stewart Craig
were introduced as the first two Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame
inductees at an alumni luncheon in Daytona Beach, Fla., on
Saturday. Both players were team captains for the Eagles in
the mid- and late-1990s, and each earned all-conference and
All-America honors.
McNally finished his four-year career at
Embry-Riddle with 66 points on 25 goals and 16 assists in 72
matches. Along with being recognized as the team’s MVP in his
first two seasons with the Eagles, McNally also earned
All-Conference honors, being named to the first team twice and
the second team once. He capped off his career by being
selected to the All-America honorable mention team.
“He brought a new level of expectation to
our soccer program,” Eagles head coach David Gregson said of
McNally. “His standards and habits in games and in training
raised the bar for all his teammates then and those who would
follow later. There was that fire in his personality that
allowed him to be a self-starter and set a new level of
excellence for the program.”
Together McNally and Craig led the Eagles
to the program’s first Florida Sun Conference tournament title
in 1998. McNally took over the captain’s role from Craig in
1999 and helped lead the team to the program’s first regular
season conference championship. |
