Munoz Tabbed Heartland Conference POTW (1/11/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Yellowjacket
senior guard Cameron Munoz was named Heartland Conference player of the
week for the week of January 2-8. This week’s award brings the
Jackets’ Heartland Conference player of the week total to four
and is Munoz’s (Chino, CA) second.
Munoz averaged 25.7 points and
6.7 three-pointers in three Yellowjackets wins against Heartland
Conference teams last week. In Wednesday’s 122-97 win over
Western New Mexico, Munoz netted 29 points and seven
three-pointers. On Friday Munoz scored 20 points and knocked
down five from behind the arc in an 88-77 win over Oklahoma
Panhandle. After Munoz’s twelfth made point Friday night he
became just the fifth player in the school’s 79 years to score
over 1,500 career points. Munoz rounded out the week with 28
points and eight three-pointers in Saturday’s 90-89 win against
the Aggies. For the three games, Munoz went 25-of-60 from the
field (41.7%), 20-of-42 from three-point range (47.6%), and
7-of-8 from the free throw line.
Munoz currently ranks first in
the Heartland Conference for scoring (26.8), thirteenth for
field goal percentage (47.8), eleventh for assists (2.0), second
from free throw percentage (80.0), second for three-point
percentage (48.4), and first for three-pointers per game (6.2).
Munoz led the nation in scoring and three-pointers made and
tenth for three-point percentage in last weeks NCAA national
rankings.
The Yellowjackets travel to
San Antonio, Texas this week to play Heartland Conference
opponents Incarnate Word and St. Mary’s (TX). The Jackets’ next
home game is scheduled for January 28 against St. Edward’s. Tip
