Terra Strain joins
the Yellowjackets for the 2005 season after spending the last three
years as a high school head coach in New Mexico.
Strain is a native of Virden, NM, a small farming
community on the Gila River in southwestern New Mexico. She
graduated from Duncan High School in 1996. At DHS she played
volleyball and basketball and competed in track.
Strain attended Western New Mexico in Silver City
where she played volleyball for the Mustangs for four seasons. She
graduated in 2000 with a degree in Movement Sciences with a K-12
teaching certificate.
After graduating from WNMU, Strain taught
elementary physical education classes in Holbrook, AZ for four years.
While teaching at Holbrook, she also coached volleyball at Holbrook High
School. Strain was the junior varsity coach for one year before
being elevated to head coach, a position she held for three seasons.
In 2003 she was named the 3A North Coach of the Year. Last year
Strain was selected by her peers to coach the 1A-3A North All-Star Team,
which defeated the South in a five-game match.
While coaching the Yellowjackets, Strain will also
be working toward her master's degree in athletic training. |
