Lady Jackets Sweep Seasiders for Second Time (Oct. 8, 2004)

BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State-Billings
volleyball team evened its PacWest Conference record with a
three-game sweep of BYU-Hawaii Friday night. The Yellowjackets
downed the Seasiders 30-18, 30-21, 30-19 to improve to 10-5
overall and 3-3 in the PacWest. BYU-Hawaii dropped to 7-7, 1-5.
The Yellowjackets swept the Seasiders in Laie,
HI, on September 27. It was the first time MSU Billings had won
on the Seasiders’ home court. Friday was just the Yellowjackets’
third win over BYU-Hawaii in the teams’ 13-match history. The
Seasiders had swept the last six matches against MSU Billings
entering this season.
Jessica
Bratton (So., Casper, WY) and Alicia
Cazemier (Fr., Vauxhall, Alberta) provided the Jackets’
offensive punch on Friday. Bratton finished with a dozen kills on
27 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage. Cazemier added 11
kills on 19 attempts with a .368 hitting percentage. She was also
in on seven blocks.
As a team, MSU Billings out-hit the Seasiders
.327 to .084. The Yellowjackets hammered out 44 kills with just
12 errors on 98 attempts. They took the momentum in the first
game with 17 kills and just two errors on a .429 hitting
percentage. MSUB closed the night with a .375 hitting percentage
in the final game.
Natalie
Bills (So., Provo, UT) handed out 33 assists and added eight
digs. Olivia Munro (Sr., Toronto, Ontario) had a match-high nine
digs to go with seven assists. Kari Jones (Sr., Hermiston, OR) had a balanced night with six kills, five
assists, five digs and five blocks.
The Yellowjackets and Seasiders meet again at
7:00 p.m. Saturday night at Alterowitz Gym in a non-conference
match. |
